Tells us a little about yourself

I have been living in Houston Texas since 2007. I have lived most of my life in northern California where I grew up and started my financial advisory business in 1993.

As a youth my father started taking me fishing when I lived in SoCal at age 5 and have been fishing every since then. I took up the hobby of wrapping rods when I was 18 years old and have been building rods every since then as it is a stress release for me and helps with my creative thinking.

However, I have a real passion for fishing big tuna and love to travel to different places in search of that big YFT.

What was the path that led you to Panama?

A few years back I was reading an article on the top places in the world to fish for yellowfin tuna and Panama was on that list. When I moved to Texas I noticed a lot of guys flying frequently to Panama to go fishing.

This sparked my curiosity and I started to do research on the fishing and area. I had a place in Baja mexico with my dad and several buddies of mine that was really the ultimate fish camp / man cave for us to get away too.

Several years back a freak fire burned 120 palapas in about 20 minutes and we had spent so many years with blood and sweat to get this place just the way we wanted that it was just too tough to try and rebuild especially in Baja, Mexico. That being said as I researched Panama more and more I realized it was a more American friendly environment and with the fishing being so good my quest for a new place to build roots for a fishing man cave began and Boca Chica Panama area was my target!

What did you like about the Boca Chica area?

As I started to research more I was looking for land / lot I could buy that was waterfront, I soon realized there was very little out there to purchase until I discovered Emerging Terrains.

After months and months of talking back and forth with Josh and Park, I put the hold deposit down for Parcel 1 site unseen.

What I really liked and wanted was a place to build from scratch to go fishing, kayaking and the many other water sports people enjoy. There is inshore fishing and offshore fishing that is world class.

What’s your dream for your property on the island?

My dream is to build a tropical sanctuary/lodge for friends, family and other avid fisherman to enjoy the world class fishing and water sports in a place that is away from the everyday hustle and bustle. A place where all can take in some relaxation, tropical drinks, and a great tropical atmosphere!

What advice would you give to others looking to make the leap to Panama or possibly Boca Chica Island?

If you are looking for a place to get away and build a home away from home for friends and family to enjoy, then Boca Chica Island is a place you will want to check out.

The guys at Emerging Terrains make it an adventure and enjoyable journey with all the resources and help you can imagine to turn your tropical dream into a reality!
